Thousand Oaks, also referred to as "T.O.", is a city located in the southeastern part of Ventura County, California and 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The name is derived from the abundance of oak trees which grow in the area. Thousand Oaks is comprised of several communities, including Newbury Park in the western part of the city.
There are over 15,000 acres of public open space within Thousand Oaks with 75 miles of biking, jogging, hiking, walking and equestrian trails. The beautiful natural surroundings with close proximity to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation area makes it one of the most desirable places to live and work in southern California. The community of Thousand Oaks is constantly growing and flourishing with the support of its residents and the city government.
