Ventura, California
Ventura, or San Buenaventura, is the county seat of Ventura County, California, located along the Pacific coast, one-hour drive northwest of Los Angeles. Spanish settlers referred to Ventura as the "land of endless summers" since the average temperature throughout the whole year is 70 degrees.
Due to the ocean side proximity, the Channel Islands National Park and the Los Padres National Forest, Ventura offers an abundance of outdoor activities, including surfing, snorkeling, mountain biking, hiking or sailing. Apart from the beautiful surroundings, downtown Ventura features a wide variety of museums, galleries, quaint shops and fine restaurants. Many different events are held in Ventura throughout the year, such as the Ventura County Fair, which over the years has hosted such acts as Jimi Hendrix and Smokey Robinson. There were many movies filmed in Ventura, such as, Swordfish, Little Miss Sunshine, Chinatown, Erin Brockovich and The Aviator.
