Ventura County, California


Ventura County is situated in the southern part of the United States, on California's Pacific Coast. The county is often referred to as the Gold Coast and is said to be one of the safest populated places, one of the 100 highest-income counties in the country and the sixth wealthiest county in California by per capita income. The major cities in Ventura County are Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Oxnard, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Ventura; other communities include Newbury Park and Port Hueneme.

North of the county is mostly mountainous and within the jurisdiction of Los Padres National Forest. The main waterway in Ventura County is the Santa Clara River, the largest body of water is Lake Casitas and the highest peak is Mount Pinos.
